Jay Reatard Videos

Here's an email that came in recently. Check out the video at the end, of Jay Reatard playing two songs. The music reminds me of X, the LA late 70s/early 80s punk band, and the vocals call to mind the 70s DC punkers Bad Brains. For more videos, visit the wefanscomingsoon YouTube channel.

Love your site and blog.

Here is a few videos i produced of Jay Reatard at a recent in-store at Sonic Boom Records in Toronto

December's Children

I heard from the London Garage Rockers, "December's Children" recently and went to check out their MySpace. This is a Great Garage Band! You'll recognize a Velvet Underground influence as you listen to their slightly sparse yet hauntingly strong tunes. Catchy melodies with good guitar work and vocals make this a band to watch. Go listen to the songs on MySpace - "Come Join Us" is my fave!

Hey man!

I've just discovered your podcasts and I think they are great!!! It's such
a shame it appears they stopped at the end of last year. [Ed.Note: New Podcast! See previous post!] I am from London, and I am the guitarist in a new Garage Rock Band called December's Children. We've very recently recorded a new E.P. for the group, and I'd really love you to hear it. I appreciate that you must be a very busy man, but I think you might like the way we are going. Your seal of approval would mean an awful lot to me!
Thanks a lot, Bill,

GRR Podcast 8

Here is volume 8 of our 1960's Garage Podcast!

Volume 8 has 4 songs on it and runs for 11 minutes and 18 seconds. It's about 10.3 MB in size and is in MP3 format encoded at 128kb/second. The sound is NOT CD quality; if you hear a song you like, it's probably on a CD compilation somewhere. This podcast starts with our GarageRockRadio Theme Song - made for us by Lynette from New York. Check it out!

Here are the songs in the Podcast:

We Got Something Going - The Jades
I Tried - T R and the Yardsmen
Last Night - New Colony Six
Lost Soul in Desillusion - The Power of Beckett

The Hussy

Here's an email I just got from a very cool new Garage/Punk band. Check out their MySpace to hear some of their songs. I did and I loved them! High energy fun songs with great vocals. Go and listen!

I'm in a garage punk band called the Hussy out of Madison wisconsin.
We'd love to be on your blog.
Here's a bio and a link to some tunes. i can provide MP3's if you would like.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

The Hussy – Madicine, Wisconsin

2 piece, drums n guts—drunk-thunk stoopid sweet rock n' roll.

He (Bobby) sings, she (Heather) sings.

He plays guitar, she plays drums.

We like Cheap Time, the Catholic Boys, The Dead Boys, Jay Reatard, dogs, The Mystery Girls, The Wax Museums, horseshoes, The Stooges, Verbena, flinging shit.

Phoenixes be damned, we ain't rising out of no one's ashes.

We prefer a solid basement show to a parodied cock rock arena show.

We hate bands that play sets longer than 35 minutes. We don't even want to see our favorite bands play for more than 35 minutes.

We're not smarter than you, and we won't pretend we are.

We're not complicated, complex, complacent or commandeering, but we are combat ready and lookin for a good time.

We write songs about dogs, cars, words, and girlfriends that can't read.

We just finished a 9 song EP that was recorded by Kyle Motor (The Midwest Beat, the God Damns) and produced by Logan Kayne of the Midwest Beat. Recorded/mixed in 9 hours on 2 inch.
